Rahm
Weinberg Dolomiten Rot
A wine with a whole lot of character that has yet to find its match. The autochthonous Lagrein grapes need to be harvested right at the point of ripeness to allow flesh, finesse and elegance to develop beneath their dark skin. Scents of cocoa, bitter chocolate and crushed elderberries govern the bouquet, while in the mouth, flavors of black berries, dark cherries and licorice dominate the taste, enveloped in firm and juicy tannins. A wine for romantic moments – a taste of indulgence. Its elegant structure promises a sophisticated gourmet experience, delicious with dark meat and aged cheese.
Vineyard Notes
At an elevation of 260 meters above sea level, in one of the last remaining Lagrein-growing terrains of Gries in Bozen, the 80-year-old vines are rooted in a sandy clay porphyry alluvial soil with rocky sediments. Raised according to certified ecological principals, the vines are partially trained on pergolas and partially Guyot-pruned on espalier.
Vinification and Aging
Because of a delicate and careful processing and treatment of grapes in the cellar, varietal characteristics as well as local imprints of soil and rock are preserved in every bottle of our Rahm. The spontaneous fermentation in the large wood barrel happens in a natural and gentle manner. Organic acid reduction takes place in the tonneaus. Barrel storage of about 2 years.
